"If you're thinking about quitting it's not impossible to do it, but you MUST do it for yourself and be ready to make some serious changes to get there. If you don't give it your full effort to quit then you won't. It doesn't matter how many patches you put on, or how many pieces of gum you use it won't work if you don't want it too."

I'm 26 and started chewing and smoking when I was in the 8th grade. I quit smoking once before for about 2 years. I started up again to try to quit chewing. I ended up doing both. I've never really been motivated to stay quit before. I'm in a really loving and supportive relationship. She doesn't use tobacco and has been urging me to make the decision to quit for a long time. Finally I said I was done and called the quit line. I got my patches in the mail and started them right away. I gave away all of my remaining tobacco and tobacco accesories (ashtrays, lighters, etc). My first day was the hardest. I found myself "zoning out" alot. As the day's went on it kept getting easier. I'll admit the hardest thing to give up was the chewing. There were day's that I really wanted to chew, but I told myself no and thought about how great my life is and will be by being tobacco free. I'm on my last day of the 21mg patches and have bought a two week supply of the 14mg, and the 7 mg patches. I thought about not using the patches because it was really easy not to use tobacco until one day I forgot to put one on and went to work. It was not good I really wanted to have a chew. I then realized that the patches were what was making it easy for me to stay quit. I alway's heard that people gain weight when they quit smoking so I started eating healthy and doing some very light workouts. I found that going on walks when I wanted a smoke at work was a great benifit. Not only did it get my mind off of smoking and chewing it helped me to lose weight. Tomorrow will be one month since I used tobacco. I'm so happy with how far I've come. I've also lost 19 pounds:) If you're thinking about quitting it's not impossible to do it, but you MUST do it for yourself and be ready to make some serious changes to get there. If you don't give it your full effort to quit then you won't. It doesn't matter how many patches you put on, or how many pieces of gum you use it won't  work if you don't want it too.
